North Carolina bears the burden of more economic strain over HB2, the controversial "bathroom bill" law. The W. K. Kellogg Foundation moved their conference out of Asheville over House Bill 2, resulting in an estimated $1.5 million loss for the area. The foundation released a public statement condemning the bill.

"It is very disappointing that North Carolina, among other states, has thought to enact legislation that overturns protections for all people including LGBT people, sanctioning open discrimination against them."
