UVM cancels UNC women's basketball game over HB2

July 24, 2016

The state of North Carolina reports another loss due to HB2. The University of Vermont women's basketball team cancelled a game against the University of North Carolina in opposition to HB2. UVM athletic director said the new law is discriminatory towards the transgender community. Losing this event increases the negative economic impact of HB2 even further.
"The decision to cancel to our Dec. 28 women's basketball game at North Carolina was made as a result of concerns over the HB2 law, which prevents transgender people from using government-run bathrooms based on their gender identity."

- Jeff Schulman, Athletic Director, UVM
Losing the UVM vs. UNC women's basketball games is just one of many recent losses for NC over HB2.
