Duke vs. Albany Basketball game cancelled over HB2

July 13, 2016

Things just keep getting worse for the state of NC over HB2. New York governor Andrew Cuomo issued an executive order barring travel to NC, resulting in the cancellation of the Duke vs. Albany game. Cuomo was just one of dozens of public officials from states around the country banning travel to North Carolina in response to the discriminatory bill. Losing this event in Durham increases the negative economic impact of HB2 even further. Scheduled for Cameron Stadium, the loss of this event is an unfortunate side effect of the discriminatory bill.
"The State University of New York supports Governor Cuomo's executive order banning all non-essential travel to the state of North Carolina."

- Holly Liapsis, SUNY spokesperson
The loss of the Duke vs. Albany game is just another in a long line of HB2 related losses for the state of North Carolina.
