The state of North Carolina reports another loss due to HB2. The Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists moved their upcoming conference out of the state of NC in response to the HB2 related travel bans to the state. Raleigh city officals estimated the losses at $890,000.
Losing this convention in Raleigh increases the negative economic impact of HB2 even further. Scheduled for the Raleigh Convention Center, the loss of this convention is an unfortunate side effect of the discriminatory bill.
"While CSTE historically hosts the conference in the state of its current president, the location announcement for 2017 remains on hold, pending the repeal or amendment of North Carolina’s March 2016 House Bill 2."
