North Carolina reports further HB2 related losses. Cirque du Soleil cancelled performances in Raleigh, Greensboro, and Charlotte to protest HB2. In a public statement about their decision, the group emphasized their strong belief in diversity and equality.
This is a huge loss for North Carolina, accounting for 2.72% of the total HB2 related losses so far. Scheduled for the Spectrum Center, the Greensboro Coliseum, and PNC arena, there were 21 total shows that are no longer happening due to the controversial new piece of legislature.
"Cirque du Soleil strongly believes in diversity and equality for every individual and is opposed to discrimination in any form. The new HB2 legislation passed in North Carolina is an important regression to ensuring human rights for all."
